ok. i have tried acupuncture. maybe i wasn't in the right frame of mind but it didn't help me. i had pins placed in my ears and beads placed in my ear lobs which i was requested to rub when i had an urge for a cigerate. it didn't work...but maybe at that time i didn't want to stop. i really think you have to be in that position when you WANT to stop for all the help aids to work. good luck! it can be done.

Hi Attagirl,

I have a friend who uses auricular (ear) acupuncture with her stop smoking clients and it seems quite successful.

I took a group of clients (I'm a therapist) along to her for some detox acupuncture and they really noticed a difference (they were all in re-hab from opiates).

She put 2 or 3 pins (very fine pins as thin as hair) into our ears. It didn't hurt. We sat there for about 20-30 mins. It was quite relaxing actually.

Afterwards she put small pins in each of my clients ears on their 'lung point' and instructed them to push gently on the pins whenever they felt either withdrawal symptoms or the urge to use.

After a week all the clients reported that they had experienced less symptoms and that they had all used the pins quite a bit.

Hope that helps, let us know if you use acupuncture yourself and what it was like, it may help others to make a decision.
Best wishes
Heather

I feel so doubtful about acupuncture. Has anyone tried it with good success?

Thing is you need to belive in it for it to work. I am sure with most things if you really really belive it will work then it will, but if your not sure then i dont think acupuncture is an option for you.
