Hi JaneAusten555
Hypnotherapy is becoming the most popular way to quit smoking because, as you noticed with your friends, the success rate is really high.
A couple of things to think about though: first of all - it only works if you really want it to and you can't be hypnotised against your will.
If you think you are really ready to let go of the cigarettes and you can easily write a list of at least 10 reasons why you are desperate to stop, then I think you're ready.
Secondly, the reason it's so successful is that it works on your inner mind and beliefs. Other methods give you an alternative way of getting nicotine while you cut down or give you something to help with the withdrawal symptoms.
Hypnosis actually gives you the tools to change your thinking about smoking. You can re-programme your sub-conscious mind to react like a non-smoker.
As you can probably tell, I'm very pro-hypnosis because I used it to stop smoking back in 1994 and I've never even wanted another cigarette. I've gone on to qualify as a hypnotherapist and have helped hundreds of other smokers do the same. I guess I'm biased about hypnosis. I've even posted a video about my stop smoking journey and some tips on my introduction:
"I'm Heather Bestel and I'm an ex-smoker!"
Go and check me out.
If you do choose to use hypnosis, come and tell us how you got on.
Best wishes
Heather
